Jonathan T. Nish
Mr. Nish was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1983 and raised in the Salt Lake Valley. While in high school Mr. Nish became an Eagle Scout and is a proud lifetime member of the Order of the Arrow. After graduating from Viewmont High School in 2001 he attended the University of Utah studying Music Education. The great joy of his college career was playing tuba for the Pride of Utah Marching Band. Mr. Nish took a two year break from his education to serve a two year service mission for his church in Fort Worth, Texas.
Upon his return from Texas, Mr. Nish took a job with J&M Innovative Products, a company specializing in outdoors manufacturing, where he rose to the position of Vice President of International Operations. During his tenure with J&M he decided to finish his education and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. It was at this time that Mr. Nish’s mind turned toward the law.
Seeing an opportunity to realize the personal dream of being an attorney, Mr. Nish left his employment with J&M to take an unpaid internship with Sean B. Druyon of Druyon Law Offices in Bountiful, Utah. Mr. Druyon would become Mr. Nish’s first legal mentor and benefactor and would open the door to the challenges and opportunities of the legal world. Mr. Nish and Mr. Druyon would continue to work together until he went to law school in the fall of 2010 and have remain close friends and colleagues.
In August of 2010, Mr. Nish attended Saint Louis University School of Law in Saint Louis, Missouri. While in law school Mr. Nish served for two years as the president of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and oversaw the largest growth in student member enrollment and activity in many years in the society. During his tenure as the JRCLS president the society hosted many distinguished guests at the law school including Jim Layton, Missouri Solicitor General and the Honorable Duane Benton of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals; both of whom Mr. Nish is proud to call his friends.
In May of 2012, Mr. Nish returned home as a visiting student to the University of Utah to take the unique opportunity of participating in a program allowing student lawyers to work on criminal cases for indigent clients. It was here he had the distinct privilege of working with the talented attorneys at Lundell & Lofgren: Rick Lundell, Brian Lofgren and Monte Sleight. It was also through Lundell & Lofgren that he met his current partner Kent Morgan. As a team they handled cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to a capital homicide.
Despite finishing his coursework at the University of Utah, Mr. Nish is a graduate of Saint Louis University School of Law. Mr. Nish took and passed the bar exam in July of 2013 and was admitted to the practice of law in September of 2013.
Mr. Nish proudly serves the public as a member of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the J. Reuben Clark Law Society.
